Retaining walls that are standard for Australians are.

1. Gravity retaining walls

It is a common type of retaining wall, which is constructed with a larger base and a slight backwards strong, using its weight to hold back the soil. This process is called battering. This wall uses its weight to resist the soil pressure behind it, so they're normally on the larger side. Gravity walls can be built to different heights.

2. Anchored retaining walls

If you need to hold up a heavy bank of the earth but have space for a thinner retaining wall, then anchor walls can be the better option for retaining walls. These walls need cables to connect the top and bottom of the wall, which are rooted in concrete so the structure can stay solid against pressure. These types of retaining walls are thinner and taller than a gravity retaining wall.

These are among the highest types of retaining walls up to 10 metres.
